Bronze trophy with wings.

Fort Lauderdale, FLA. — GQG Partners has won the Global Equity Fund of the Year category for its GQG Partners Global Equity Fund – A Class at the 36th annual Money Management awards, at a ceremony held last night (13 June 2024).

The Global Equity Fund of the Year award was voted on by sector managers from research house Lonsec, who selected the fund manager who demonstrated sound investment culture and good governance practices across at least one investment cycle and across a number of asset classes.

Laird Abernethy, Managing Director of GQG Partners, Australia and New Zealand, said the award is tribute to the calibre of GQG’s investment team and process.

GQG Partners also won “Website of the Year” at the Financial Standard MAX awards.

Laird Abernethy, Managing Director of GQG Partners, Australia and New Zealand, said the win reflects the experience and skill of the investment team and its performance. “This is an outstanding recognition, against strong competition, for a business that has only been operating globally for eight years. It is particularly gratifying to receive an award that is based on investment culture and good governance, as these are areas that are very important to us as a business. We are continuing to deliver good returns to our investors, and experience strong inflows, thanks to our forward-looking quality investment philosophy,” Mr Abernethy said.

Money Management Global Equity Fund of the Year Award Methodology: Within each category, the pool of eligible funds is the Lonsec-rated universe. This universe is then screened according to funds that have met the following criteria:

  1. Has received a Lonsec Recommended or above rating for each of the last three years
  2. Has met at least two of the following:

A. Met or exceeded investment objectives

B. Delivered alpha above that of peers

C. Delivered defensive characteristics above peers

This screening process ensures only funds where Lonsec has high conviction in the capability of the fund manager and their team are eligible for the award. The quantitative screening characteristics can then be applied. A shortlist of finalists is then selected from this group.

Financial Standard MAX Website of the Year Award Methodology: This award is for the website that Financial Standard believes delivers the most outstanding innovation, content, interactivity and whose design results in valuable user experience and captures the greatest return on investment.
