Trophy on a table with the word Max on it.

Fort Lauderdale, FLA. — The GQG Partners Global Equity Fund has won the “International Equities – High Active Risk” category at the 2024 Investment Leadership Awards, presented at the Financial Standard MAX awards last night (6 June 2024).

The awards identify investment managers with what Financial Standard believes is the best balance of investment returns and risk management.

Winners and finalists are determined by Rainmaker Information’s quantitative research systems that assess investment products in each asset class over the short, medium and long-run.

GQG Partners also won “Website of the Year” at the MAX awards.

Laird Abernethy, Managing Director of GQG Partners, Australia and New Zealand, said the win reflects the experience and skill of the investment team and its performance.

“This award is recognition of the team’s efforts on behalf of investors. It is particularly gratifying to receive an award that acknowledges both returns and risk management, which are key elements of the GQG approach.

“Our Global Equity Fund aims to invest in high-quality companies with attractively priced future growth prospects in both developed and emerging markets. GQG Partners’ fundamental investment process evaluates each business based on financial strength, sustainability of earnings growth, and quality of management. The Fund seeks to limit downside risk whilst providing attractive returns to long-term investors over a full market cycle.”

“Since inception, the fund has returned 5.19 per cent net of fees above its benchmark* which we believe is an outstanding result over multiple volatile periods,” he said.

GQG Partners also marked a significant step in March this year when it received final approval to establish an office in Abu Dhabi.

This is a pivotal move for GQG in establishing its first investment hub outside the US. It will further solidify GQG’s global footprint and enhance its position in key markets, including the Middle East.

The new office recognises the importance of Abu Dhabi and the Middle East as significant regions for capital markets and the global asset management industry.

The performance data quoted represents past performance. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. Returns greater than one year are annualized. Returns are presented net of fees and are based on end of month hard close redemption prices assuming the reinvestment of all distributions and capital gains. Net performance is calculated after the deduction of actual trading expenses and is net of taxes withheld on foreign dividends, interest and capital gains. Net performance also deducts the stated management fee, which includes management and other administrative fees (custody, legal, admin, audit and organisation fees). Current Fund performance may be lower or higher than quoted performance. The investment return and principal value of an investment will fluctuate so that an investor’s units, when redeemed, may be worth more or less that their original cost. There can be no assurance that the Fund will achieve its investment objective. The performance data contained herein is calculated by a data provider whose calculation methodology may result in Fund performance that is lower or higher than the performance quoted in Fund reports.

* As of 30 April 2024. Inception date is 2 June 2017.  Benchmark is the MSCI ACWI ex Tobacco. 5 year net returns were 16.65% vs 11.26% for the index. Returns are annualized.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Financial Standard “International Equities – High Active Risk” Investment Leadership Award Methodology:
To determine the Investment Leadership Award winners, Financial Standard engages Rainmaker Information to develop a quantitative methodology that equally weights performance factors with five different risk measures. Strategies are separated by both asset classes and risk level.
Benchmark indexes are used to help determine the awards categories. In the case of large capitalisation strategies in equities, benchmarks are used to help calculate the beta-adjusted alpha of the fund, which goes into the final score the strategy receives. This is a measure of the fund’s return after considering the market exposure the fund has taken in implementing its strategy. The Investment Leadership Awards take both return and risk measures into account.

Financial Standard MAX Website of the Year Award Methodology:
This award is for the website that Financial Standard believes delivers the most outstanding innovation, content, interactivity and whose design results in valuable user experience and captures the greatest return on investment.

Financial Standard MAX Distribution Team of the Year Award Methodology:
