FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. — The GQG Partners Community Empowerment Foundation was established with goal to empower first generation students in their academic endeavors. Since its founding, the Foundation has supported the First-Generation Scholarship at Florida International University.

As of 2023, 38% of undergraduates at Florida International University are first-generation students. Since the scholarship was started in 2006, the first-generation scholarship at FIU has provided students who are the first of their families to attend college, with opportunities to pursue their bachelor’s degrees. The university offers 140 first-generation opportunities, where 95% of students awarded are from underrepresented populations.

CIO and Chairman, Rajiv Jain, has partnered with Florida International University since 2013, supporting students in pursuit of STEM careers. GQG and FIU have continued the effort to close the funding gap for over 700 students seeking their college degrees.

The university continues to prepare the next generation of leaders through the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education, the College of Engineering and Computing, and the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs, home to the university’s international institutes and programs.
