ABOUT THE POSITION

Job Title:                              Tax Accountant

Employment:                     Exempt – FT

Location:                              New York City (Hybrid, two days per week in office and additional days as needed)

Salary Range:                     USD 95,000 – 120,000 annually plus annual discretionary bonus

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax Accountant to support GQG Partners’ U.S. federal, state and local compliance and reporting functions. The role will focus on preparing and reviewing corporate tax returns, quarterly estimates, and ASC 740 tax provision calculations to ensure full compliance with applicable tax laws and accounting standards. The position will also assist with indirect tax filings, including sales and use tax, and information reporting such as 1099 and 1042/1042S as well as ad-hoc tax projects. The Tax Accountant will collaborate closely with Finance, Accounts Payable, and across teams to maintain accurate tax documentation, improve internal controls, and respond to regulatory inquiries. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review federal and state corporate tax returns to ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly local tax filings as well as federal/state quarterly corporate income tax estimates.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual tax provision calculations in accordance with ASC 740, associated journal entries, and financial statement disclosures.
  • Assist with indirect tax compliance obligations such as sales and use tax, 1099s, and 1042s.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather necessary information for tax filings and provision calculations.
  • Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations at both the federal and state levels and analyze the effects on the company.
  • Assist with tax audits and respond to inquiries from regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain internal controls related to tax processes and documentation.
  • Assist in special projects and perform additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; EA/ CPA or Master’s in Taxation preferred.
  • 2-3 years of progressive tax accounting experience, preferably in a public accounting firm or a corporate tax department.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state corporate tax compliance and experience with tax provision under ASC 740.
  • Experience with partnership tax compliance is a plus.
  • Experience with international tax compliance is a significant advantage.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain tax concepts clearly.
  • Advanced excel skills and proficiency in tax software and technology tools commonly used in tax compliance and planning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with executives and cross-functional teams.
